PJ Personnel Newsletter Sept 25 (Instagram Post (45))

At PJ Personnel, safety is at the heart of everything we do.  Each month, we shine a spotlight on key areas that help create safer, more efficient worksites.  In this update, we’re focusing on two high-risk activities: working safely around mobile plant and machinery, and ensuring safe lifting and loading practices. By taking extra care in these areas, we can help prevent serious incidents and protect everyone on site.

Mobile Plant & Machinery

When sharing a workspace with mobile plant and machinery:

  • Always maintain a safe distance and clear segregation where possible.

  • Make yourself visible to the operator or driver.

  • Never approach machinery until the operator has clearly acknowledged it is safe to do so.

The HSA strongly advises that traffic management plans should be an integral part of every construction site’s safety plan. These plans are vital for managing vehicle movements, minimising risks, and ensuring everyone on site goes home safely.

Lifting & Loading

Safe lifting operations require thorough pre-planning, strong coordination, and competency at every stage.  At the centre of this process is the Appointed Person (AP), who plays a pivotal role in:

  • Planning and coordinating all lifting activities.

  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and industry best practices.

  • Supervising lifting operations to keep the entire site team safe.
